It has been well over a year now since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has changed businesses and how they run. As it has been the way for businesses to work and they have become used to it, the pandemic has certainly changed businesses forever.
There have been a lot of negative aspects of the pandemic, of course. School closures, homeschooling, and trying to work from home, was a juggle for many households, not to mention the impact that this strain had on many businesses relying on employees. There have been some definite silver linings, though, leaving people feeling hopeful for a brighter future. If you are wondering how businesses have changed forever, and what it could mean for your business going forward, then read on.
Working from home is here to stay
There are a number of companies who had denied flexible working requests from employees and never had a working from home policy. However, during the pandemic, businesses have seen that working from home works, and employees work just as hard, if not more, when they work from home. Employers now will find it hard to deny any flexible working requests which can have such a good impact on the work-life balance of employees. Not only can it be a big benefit to employees, but it can impact employers too. No longer will they need to pay rental for an office space to house all of their team, when they could mostly work remotely and then alternate when they will come into the office. This could save a lot of money for businesses.
Digital and virtual events and meetings
If you have a global business or work for one, then there will be people in the team who travel quite a bit for work to meet people all over the world. This has had to be on hold for quite some time now, so the impact of it all is still very real. However, as a result of digital and virtual meetings, the work can still get done, without having to meet physically in person. This can save a lot of time where people would be on planes, as well as a lot of money, as it won’t need to be spent on travel and accommodation.
Another aspect is virtual events. This could be team building events or even parties and celebrations as a team. With the rise of virtual event production as a result of the pandemic, your business can still do product launches, parties, and other events, but just through a virtual platform instead.
More leadership for all team members
For anyone who has been working remotely, they will have seen more of a demand to step up and lead. You can’t just walk over to the boss’s desk to ask a question, and they may be busy on video calls. So more of the team need to make decisions through remote working, because when there is more freedom and flexibility, it means more responsibility.
