There are a lot of blogs and websites out there on personal finance and after catching up by reading some of them over the weekend, I got to thinking about how much I really spend in a week. While working this summer, so far I have been going out to lunch most days or grabbing something here at our cafeteria (still not cheap, but a little better). Plus some days I will grab some breakfast (bagel or donut) on the way in if I am running late and don’t have the time to eat at home. Then there is the occasional dinner out with a friend or happy hour on a Thursday.ÂÂ
So, I have decided to try to keep track of all that I spend money on for a full week and see what it adds up to. I will divide it up into personal and business expenses as well as probably ones that I can not avoid such as filling up my gas tank. That way I can really see how much money I could save if I brought a packed lunch from home to work and stopped going out to dinner and other entertainment in the evenings.  Following a week of keeping track of how much I spend, I am going to attempt…keyword here is attempt, to spend as little as possible. This will be accomplished by eating breakfast at home, bringing lunch to work and also some pretzels or something to get me through the day. Ill take some time off from going out to eat and the bar, which will cut down the expenses quickly!ÂÂ
So, stay tuned for the experiment to launch starting next week- Monday the 25th. I am waiting until then because I will be on vacation this week from Wednesday thru Sunday so I will probably be spending enough for two weeks! Anyway, stay tuned for this fun little reality check on how much a normal working person could spend in a week excluding major expenses- credit card bills, electricity, water, cable/internet/phone, etc.  How much do you spend in a week?
First of all, I found your blog through your comment on nevblog (that is a great blog too). Your comment was in reference to wholesale and dropship sources. I just wanted to let you know I started a site of free wholesale sources. Its basically a directory I am hand building. I spent so much money on those stupid lists (which maybe had one good source each), and picked out the good sources and then searched for a few more and put it on my site. http://www.wholesalechecklist.com if you are interested. Also, I will add your blog to my blog (soon to be complete) at http://www.missionenvironment.com. Good luck with everything.
it really is crazy how much I spend on food and don’t even realize it.
