With the summer here, I have opted to not take a full time job/internship as many of my friends have done and therefore given up earning a steady income as I did last summer which worked out really well. Instead, I am working on launching another website, Virginia Hiker.
I will be using Virginia Hiker as a one stop resource for all the hiking and trails available in the State of Virginia. The site will feature trail reviews, pictures, maps, and also recommended gear lists for each hike. I am looking to start the site out based as a blog, however, I am slowly thinking of changing this and turning it into a static website and contain all the information on static pages while keeping a small blog for just the purpose of keeping the visitors updated as to the progress or when new trail reviews/resources are added to the website.
I am hooking up with a couple different affiliate programs to help generate income as well as using Google’s AdSense. Through the affiliate programs, I will be able to offer different outdoor gear to my visitors which can be focused on the post that they are reading.
With any luck, I will be able to fully publicize the new website and optimize it pretty well to start bringing in some extra money right out of the gates. I not expecting to earn a whole lot from launching the website, however, I am hoping that Virginia Hiker could bring in around $50 every two weeks starting out. If I can make that mark, then I see great success for the site.
So, the website is going to be located at www.virginiahiker.com and will be launching soon. Be sure to keep checking back for the official launch so that you can check it out in all its glory.
Thanks Dennis. I am working on it now as a matter of fact. Its coming along nicely.
good luck on your site! I will be working on a couple myself.
Congrats on going the all out entrepreneur route. This is my first summer not taking a traditional ‘job’ or ‘internship’ as well. Keep up the good fight, I am sure you will have an amazingly successful summer.
Best of luck!
Wow, thats a big step in my opinion.
I have decided to take the Summer Job Route merely so I get things started with my online aspirations.
