A couple months ago, I blogged about a conference that I attended in Atlanta, GA with my business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. I wanted to share a quick story from the trip about this really cool bar that we checked out while we were down there.
First off, I was surprised by the way that Atlanta was laid out – hanging a bunch of smaller shopping districts/areas within the city that gave you the impression that you were not actually in the city even though a high rise office building might have only been a couple blocks away from you. I know a lot of “smaller” cities are starting to build more centralized shopping communities/centers/villages where all the entrances to the stores are outdoors, restaurants are there, and then usually a movie theater. Many places in Northern Virginia such as Fairfax, Ashburn, and Sterling are starting to develop areas like these, but I was not expecting to find something similar in downtown ATL.
Anyway, I don’t remember the name of the bar, but it was right in the center of everything it seemed and had a really cool outdoor bar/patio area upstairs. The first floor was more of a dining area and the second floor was a bar with dance floor. Instead of having tables or chairs all over the place, they had individual little rooms/bungalos that you could sit in with your group of friends. They had these inside and out. The idea of taking the inside comfort outside was really attractive to a lot of people – apparently you have to call a couple days ahead to reserve the outside seating areas because they get booked up fast; event when it is cold outside. Anyone been to Atlanta and know what bar I am talking about? From the ad that we read about it, it looked like a more upscale type of place, but it was basically like any other bar/club type business except for their awesome seating arrangement. The DJ also wasn’t the best – apparently he was only allowed to play a certain amount of rap/dance music until a certain time. It was funny watching older couples getting down to the music though!
So, I want to encourage you all to check out Trusted Tours and Attractions if you ever travel to Atlanta or a number of other cities such as Washington DC, Tampa, or San Diego. They offer some great sightseeing tours and other passes/events/attractions in a ton of different cities that you can check out and make your vacation more enjoyable!
