Well? What is it that makes you want to keep grinding towards whatever marker for success you have set? What makes you get out of bed every day and give as much as you can to your business? It is important to reflect back at the reaons that we as entrepreneurs work as hard as we do and do what we do. It is all too often you hear people saying well “only if“, especially student entrepreneurs.
So, what inspires you to keep going for your goals?
Here’s a quick list of what keeps me going:
- The risk involved with starting your own venture
- The excitment that comes with entrepreneurship
- The desire to succeed
- The flexibility and freedom that comes with self-employement
- The love of the game (Business is a game and you need to love it to be successful!)
What is on your list?
hey Chris, I totally relate with all 5 of those reasons you have, and I’d add one…My ego driven boss!
Good point Graham! A boss breathing down your neck on assignments is always a motivator to stop making money for him and make money for yourself!
How about this…last thursday, I left the office at about 4:50 to make sure and beat traffic because I had tons to do that night. well I get a call from my boss at 4:55 “hey buddy, just calling to check on ya. wanted to see where you were?”
It may be my inherent problem with authority…but it’s getting pretty unbearable!
That is a little extreme! Did you tell him that you left early? Say that you would make up the 10 minutes if he was that worried about it? Use the good old family emergency excuse?
Time is a huge motivation for me. I’d much rather spend it with family and friends than at some office. I also enjoy the challenge.
I said “did you notice that I was in the office when you got here at 7:30 this morning?” and he said something like “that’s not the point” HAHA! OHHHH ok so the point is that you are a jackass and you need me to be there to support your 1000lb ego? I get it.
I hear ya. You should have said you were in the bathroom “taking care of business”, that probably would have bought you the few extra minutes until 5 hit. HAHA.
oh I’m totally doing that next time! I can’t wait!
Glad to help you skip out on an extra 10 minutes of work haha.
